Nome Air Base photographs, 1942-1943.

The collection consists photographs of Nome Air Base during World War II. The collection contains 19 black and white prints, 17 of which are official U.S. Army Air Force photographs. The photographs show scenes of the air base including buildings, a runway, mess halls, stockrooms, telephone switchboards, a garage, service club, a P-39 school class, men moving a quonset hut, and a meeting of senior officers.

Lawrence Marx is a World War II veteran from Flint, Michigan. He is a former president of the Eleventh Air Force Association. Marx served at Nome Air Base, also called Marks Field, during World War II. Marks Field was a United States Army Air Force base used for the Lend-Lease of aircraft to Russia during World War II, and later as a United States Air Force base until its closure in 1950.
